The Visionary Screen is designed to prevent damage to windows or glassed doors due to vandalism. At the same time, it will provide a higher level of security.
Its main components comprise of a 2mm thick steel plate pierced with 4mm holes, with centres 5mm apart on a triangular matrix, set into a steel frame made up of 38mm x 38mm x 3mm angle. The positioning of the holes in the steel plate allows a visibility, through the plate, of 58%. When viewed from the inside, the effect, when the screen is in position, is of having the window glass slightly darkened, but still giving a clear view outside.
The Visionary Screen has been designed to accommodate most of the differing requirements of various sites. It may be fixed to window and door frames with the easy operation of doors and opening vents. It may be fixed to the brickwork to completely cover a window elevation; this increases security, but limits the amount that opening window vents may be opened. By use of deeper angles, or the creation of a box, it is possible to increase the amount that vents may open, though this could result in some light loss. The largest single panel available is 1200mm x 2000mm. Where a single area to be covered is greater than this, two, or more panels, are joined together, creating narrow mullions or transoms in the screen.
When fitting Visionary Screen to doors, it is possible to cut back the screen around handles and locks so that the door can be operated in a normal fashion without difficulty. This method can also be used to ensure that any air vents built into a window frame are unobstructed.
As discussed, the product consists of a galvanised steel 38mm x 38mm x 3mm angle frame which encloses a 2mm thick, folded, galvanised steel sheet perforated with 4mm dia. holes. On site, the perforated panel is removed from the frame. The frame is then fastened on to the fabric of the building, as and where required. After this, the folded panel is placed into the frame and fixed to it with fasteners as supplied.
Experience has shown that the screen protects the glass from much of the dirt and dust that would normally accumulate upon it. The standard option is that the screen is riveted to the frame and therefore permanently fixed.
However many clients like the facility to be able to remove the screen and clean the glass, should this prove necessary. To accommodate this wish we offer the option of having the perforated panel secured to the steel frame with security screws. In this event, a tool is left with the client to enable the removal of any of the screens for cleaning or other purposes.
As mentioned above, the largest single panel that can be offered will not exceed 1200mm in width and 2000mm in length. Where sites have greater areas to cover, two or more frames can be fitted next to each other. The resulting mullion or transom will only be about 15mm thick and restrict very little light.
The default colours of the Visionary Screen are black. For a slightly higher price, other colours can be offered if we are given the relevant RAL number.
The Visionary Screen is very competitively priced and can usually be installed 2 to 3 weeks from receipt of an order.
The Econovision Screen has all of the features of the Visionary Screen in that it also protects window glass from damage by vandals, adds to the security of the premises, yet offering clear vision through the glass from within the building. It differs from the Visionary Screen because it is much slimmer, making it far less obtrusive on the face of the building. It is also much lighter and, in some cases, easier to install.
As with the Visionary Screen, the main panel is made up of 2mm thick, perforated steel sheet, galvanized and powder coated. The sheet is framed by a ‘U’ shaped channel, 30mm deep and approximately 6mm thick. Its design makes it ideal for face fit, fixing over window reveals, or for fixing directly to fixed window frames, opening window vents and doors.
The Econovision Screen is a basic unit that may be fitted as it is, or it may be used as a sub component, where sites are more complex and require specifically designed structures to meet specific needs. Where sites have particular requirements that may require additional fabrication, please contact us as we would be pleased to offer assistance.
